MISSION STATEMENT OFFICE OF JOHN A. BARSANTI, KANE COUNTY STATE'S ATTORNEY
The State's Attorney is the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the County. As such, the mission of this Office is to ensure the protection of all of the citizens in the County, including their rights, lives and property. The Office of the State's Attorney will aggressively prosecute violations of the law with an end toward substantial justice. This Office will endeavor to ensure that no citizen will be twice victimized, once by an offender and then by the criminal justice system. At the same time, the Office will make every effort to assure that no one is wrongfully convicted of a crime and that no person is persecuted because of their race, religion, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation.
The Office also recognizes that some persons accused of a crime have also been victims, are suffering from addiction, diminished mental capacity, or are otherwise not equipped with the same abilities as most of society. This Office will attempt to obtain substantial justice for all persons, including those addicted or mentally disabled, by seeking to restore those that can be useful citizens. This Office will not, however, allow anyone who physically harms another to take shelter in their addiction or disability.
This Office will prosecute all those who commit crimes, regardless of race, creed, color, origin, position or class. This Office will defend the rights of all citizens without regard to race, creed, color, origin, position or class. It will also employ with equal opportunity all who care to apply for any open position.
